Accesit - 2004 Ronda (Malaga)
La Plaza de los Descalzos, despite its prime location between the area monumental and shopping streets, despite its charm and its possibilities, is to some extent forgotten both the Ronda as for tourists. Our project aims to enhance the special character of the square an attractive offering, which allows flexibility of uses to turn the square into a new focus of urban activities.

The project addresses a number of minimal gestures-folds, cracks ...- dialogue with the church and creating a pleasant resting place for pedestrians, which in turn is compatible with underground parking.
play is proposed topography with a series of platforms that define areas of accommodation and smaller meeting and kind, while a sinuous gentle slopes to allow wheelchair access.
These platforms are articulated through cracks around the garage light and ventilate naturally. This natural light is sifted through a latticework of forging breed types of local tradition, reinterpreting in abstract password.
Through holes leads into six large palm trees that spring from a generous boxes below, creating shaded areas on the square.
The furniture is made up by a few benches, which are seen as a fold of the pavement itself, swivel chairs and a series of cast aluminum, which are placed in an anarchic way, with the users themselves are grouped or individualized.
The floor is a continuous piece of gray granite with black granite curbs, which is played with different types of finish. Alternatively, the parts are replaced by small beds of herbs or wood that give it a warmer look to the spaces on a more estancial. Prints
water run through the plaza building on the slope, following the walk with a faint rumor and freshness, as in the best tradition of local garden. Thus the water, vegetation and natural ventilation become the best allies in pursuit of a bioclimatic environment.
As lighting fixtures recessed lights are used in soil, as well as indirect lighting through the folds of the platforms at the tops of palm trees.
